Collection: KARVATI KINAAR VIDARBHA TUSSAR SILK SAREES

Vidarbha Tussar is a type of silk fabric that is originated and handwoven in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra, India. The silkworms that produce this silk are found in the wild forests of the Vidarbha region, which is in the eastern part of Maharashtra.Β

Vidarbha Tussar has a slightly coarse and grainy feel, unlike the smooth feel of mulberry silk, due to the shorter fibers used in tussar silk production. Tussar silk can be more expensive than other types of silk because the process of collecting and spinning the cocoons is labor-intensive. These sarees are handwoven using the three-shuttle technique. The Kinaar (meaning border in Marathi) design features a Karvati (meaning: sawtooth). Hence the nameΒ Karvati Kinaar.Β
